History taking is the single most important part of a good assessment. In Foundations of OA, you will learn how to ask the right questions to get the most out of every
Observation starts the moment we first see out client. Learn how to see you client differently using observation as a primary tool of assessment.
Movement is so much more than just simple range of motion. In Foundations of OA, we cover all of the principles using movement during our assessment to hone in on the true issue.
What is a 'special test' and why do we use them? Using special orthopedic tests is the least understood principle of assessment. Learn when to use them, and how they work.
The single most sensitive tool we have is our hands! Do use them to treat, but do you use your hands to assess? Learn to use palpation to better assess your clients.

Dr. Jess Reynolds, Dr. Ac, DTCM, RMT
Hey! My name is Dr. Jess Reynolds (but I mostly go by Jess). I am a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Integrative Medicine, an Acupuncturist and a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT).
My practice has been tremendously gratifying, and through it I have had the opportunity to work with many people — helping them heal, body mind and spirit. Through my practice, I soon discovered my true passion: teaching. I have been teaching in the classroom for the last seven years, and have been told by students and colleagues alike that it is my purpose. The focus of my lectures has been Psychology, Personal Growth, Nutrition, Orthopedic Assessment and Functional Medicine.
My passion, however, is in self-development of any kind. I am a true believer in becoming the best version of yourself.
Between my clinical practice and teaching experience, I have gained a wealth of knowledge in the world of health and wellness, but I offer more than that. I am an avid outdoorsman, adventure lover, and seeker of truth. I use skills and knowledge from many fields of study and interest to provide my students with unique, down-to-earth, and always informative lectures.

Prior to taking the orthopedic assessment class, there were a few grey zones. Taking this class with Dr. Jess took away uncertainties and made me confident in my practice.
Having Dr. Jess as my instructor was an irreplaceable experience. He has an immense amount of knowledge and experience, kept student engagement and made it fun to discuss scenarios and cases.
I highly recommend to take the orthopedic assessment with Dr. Jess.
Before taking Orthopedic Assessment with Dr. Jess, I wanted to be able to give my clients effective treatments, but didn't know where to start. This class has provided me with a systematic and effective approach to identifying dysfunctional tissue, so that the correct treatment can be applied for maximum benefit to my clients. I appreciate that Dr. Jess teaches in a way that has realistic and practical application for a clinical setting, while still being incredibly thorough. The principles I learnt in this course provide a fundamental understanding of the tissues, which help turn what could be complex course material, into common sense.
When starting my Orthopaedic Assessment class with Dr. Jess I had only my first year massage therapy education and was unsure how to approach client assessment and treatment. Looking forward to my new career I also knew I was missing the necessary experience and knowledge to do the job. Dr. Jess advised us to stick with it, put in the work, and that it would all come together. After the course he was able to take my entire first year of education and assemble it in a way I could have confidence in. Not only is Dr. Jess incredibly knowledgeable in the subject matter, but he finds a way to make even the most mundane of curriculum interesting and engaging. I would suggest anyone interested in a class sign up, you won't regret it.
Prior to class with Dr. Jess, I had very minimal understanding of what may have been going on with each patient. After the Orthopedic assessment class; I have learned within a few steps of my patient walking to the treatment room; the ability to pick out what may in fact be hidden issues. This helps me understand what is going on with the patient and to start a plan of action and treatment. I have many times indicated what I observed while walking to the room and the patient was completely amazed how I saw this. I strongly feel this has positively made clients quickly build trust in my abilities.
